In the context of the interaction between a host and pathogen, the potential for disease to develop is dependent on their compatibility. If the host and pathogen are not compatible, disease will not ensue. This is frequently due to the host’s hypersensitivity to the pathogen.

Typically, this refers to two medications that can be safely combined without negating or amplifying each other’s effects. Understanding which drugs are chemically compatible is crucial for medical prescriptions. Mixing incompatible drugs could initiate a chemical reaction that results in a potent concentration at the bottom of the medication bottle, making the final dose dangerously strong.
