A device placed under the periosteum on the residual ridge to provide abutments for supporting a removable or fixed dental prosthesis in a fully edentulous arch. Usage of such implants should be described by means of the relationship to their bases of support, the alveolar bone. As such, at placement, the implant is described as an eposteal dental implant.
