Consumer health education

All children, youth, and adults are consumers of health in one way or another. The purposes of are to (a) inform people about health, illness, disability, and ways in which they can improve and protect their health, and more efficient use of the health care delivery system, (b) motivate people to want to change to more healthful practices, (c) help people learn the necessity to adapt and maintain healthful lifestyles, (d) foster teaching and communications skills in all those engaged in educating consumers about health, (e) advocate changes in the environment that facilitate healthful conditions and healthful behavior, and (f) add knowledge through research and evaluation concerning the most effective ways of achieving these objectives.
