Cure

A particular way of making someone well or of stopping an illness.

In medicine, to treat so as to achieve total disappearance of a disease’s signs and symptoms, restoring the patient to normal health. A temporary halt in the advance of a progressive disease or the spontaneous temporary lessening or disappearance of symptoms (remission) is not generally considered a cure. Many diseases are not curable, but they are controllable diseases, meaning that the symptoms can be held in check with regular treatment.

The preservation of meat, particularly pork, or fish, involves a methodical process that typically includes smoking, marinating in a mixture of salt and seasonings for a period, or submerging in brine. These techniques aim to safeguard the meat or fish from spoilage and increase its longevity by inhibiting bacterial growth and enzymatic action.

Recovery is the journey towards regaining normal health following an illness. The term “cure” typically refers to the complete elimination of a disease rather than a mere cessation of its progression. A treatment that leads to the resolution of an illness may also be referred to as a cure, indicating the successful restoration of well-being and the absence of the previously afflicting condition.
