Shrubby annual plant with large, trumpet-shaped flowers that contains toxic, narcotic alkaloids sometimes used as hallucinogens, often added to majoun.

A genus of plants, one member of which, Datura stramonium, contains constituents of hyoscyamine and scopolamine, which have anticholinergic properties.
