Delaney clause

Formerly part of American federal law ( 1 959 Delaney amendment to Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act), it was eliminated during 1 996. The Delaney Clause had set a zero-risk tolerance level for carcinogenic pesticide residues in processed foods.


A clause in the U.S. Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act that bans any additive that causes cancer when it is consumed by animals or humans.
