Dextroamphetamine

A form of amphetamine used to treat narcolepsy and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children and adults. In some cases, this drug has been used to treat depression or as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of exogenous obesity. This medication is known as a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant. Marketed under the brand names dexedrine (dextroamphetamine) and adderall (dextroamphetamine and amphetamine mixed salts); may also be known by the discontinued brand name dextrostat.


A synthetic central nervous system stimulant and one of the three major amphetamines.


A stimulant drug. Dextroamphetamine (Adderall, Dexedrine, DextroStat) is a prescription drug that stimulates nerve cells in the brain. It is used to treat narcolepsy, epilepsy, Parkinson disease, and hyperactivity in children. Dextroamphetamine is a drug that is easily abused and may cause many cardiovascular side effects.


A drug with actions and effects similar to those of ‘amphetamine.
