Doppler

Ultra-sonographic technique used to evaluate blood flow velocity.

Determination of blood flow; velocity, direction, and possible occlusion using a transducer placed over the blood vessel; data obtained is analyzed by computer for pathology.

A technique that uses images made by soundwaves to determine abnormal conditions in tissues, such as obstructions and others.

The phenomenon known as the Doppler effect pertains to the perceptible alteration in the frequency of sound wave echoes as they return to a stationary source from a target in motion. When an object moves closer to the source, the frequency of the waves increases, whereas if the object moves away, the frequency decreases. This shift in frequency provides valuable information for determining the speed of various objects, be it a moving car on the road or the flow of blood within an artery. It is worth noting that the Doppler effect is applicable not only to sound waves but also to all forms of radiation.
