Difficult or painful evacuation of feces.


Difficulty in passing stools, usually from long-continued, voluntary suppression of the urge to defecate.


A form of constipation resulting from a long period of voluntary suppression of the urge to defecate. The rectum becomes distended with feces and bowel movements are difficult or painful.


Constipation due to retention of faeces in the rectum. This retention is the outcome of irregular habits, which damp down the normal reflex causing defaecation.


Difficulty in evacuating the bowels, also known as constipation.
