Dyscrasia

Presently a term referring to improper synthesis of blood proteins by the liver, especially clotting factors. Formerly it was used to describe an improper balance between blood and lymph in an organ or the whole person. Archaically, it referred to an imbalance between the four humors: blood, phlegm, yellow bile, and the postulated black bile.

Any diseased or imbalanced state of the body or its systems (e.g., blood dyscrasia, any abnormal condition of the blood).

Blood-related diseases affecting blood cells or platelets.

An abnormal state of the body or part of the body, especially one due to abnormal development or metabolism. In classical medicine the term was used for the imbalance of the four humors, which was believed to be the basic cause of all diseases.

An old term meaning abnormal mixture of the four humors. The word is now used as a synonym for disease, especially hematologic disease.

Any unusual state, especially related to the blood.
