Eclipse phase

That phase of the viral life cycle during which a virus enters a cell to parasitize it. The eclipse phase of the viral life cycle includes 1. the attachment of the virus to the cell membrane, 2. the penetration of the cell by the virus, and 3. the uncoating of the virus once it has entered the cytoplasm.
