Fluoxetine hydrochloride

Antidepressant drug used in the treatment of depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and in attention-deficit disorder. Although widely touted as being safer than its predecessors, some patients receiving this drug have developed insomnia, anorexia, and worsened depression. Whether these side effects are from the underlying depression itself or due to the drug is a matter of controversy. Many physicians feel that fluoxetine is safe when used under appropriate circumstances.


A drug used in the treatment of depression, bulimia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. It is an inhibitor of serotonin reuptake in the central nervous system.
