A urinary tract catheter with a balloon attachment at one end. After the catheter is inserted, the balloon is inflated. Thus the catheter is prevented from leaving the bladder until the balloon is emptied.
A double-channel retention catheter consists of two channels: one for the inflow and outflow of fluid from the bladder, and the other (smaller) channel for inflating a balloon that secures the catheter within the bladder.
A Foley catheter is a flexible tube designed to be inserted through the urethra into the bladder, allowing for the uninterrupted drainage of urine. This type of catheter remains in position within the bladder thanks to a balloon located at its tip, which can be inflated using either air or liquid.
