Food and Nutrition Service

The agency of the federal government responsible for administering the variety of food assistance programs created by federal legislation. As a division of the Department of Agriculture (USDA), the FNS programs include the school lunch program. Food Stamps, and the Special Supplental Food Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). The primary emphasis of these programs is to improve the nutrition of children and low-income adults.
