Foundation for Informed Medical Decision Making

A nonprofit corporation organized in 1989 in Hanover, NH, to obtain and make available the information needed to enable informed medical decision making. Its four goals are to provide accurate and understandable information, to gather data on outcomes of treatment interventions, to study and improve methods of communication to patients, and to develop, produce, evaluate, and disseminate programs which provide patients with information which they can share in the decision making with their physicians. Primary developers of the Foundation were John E. Wennberg, MD and Albert J. Mulley, MD.
