Freckle

A dense pigmented area of the skin.


A harmless small brownish patch on the skin that becomes more noticeable after exposure to the sun. Freckles are often found in people with fair hair.


Small, flat, brown or tan discoloration on the skin, usually resulting from exposure to the sun; the tendency to freckle is hereditary and occurs primarily in redheaded persons and others with fair skin. Since these people tend to develop more serious skin changes, they should avoid overexposure to the sun.


A brown spot on the skin commonly found on the arms and face of young people with a fair complexion. Freckles, which are harmless, appear where there is excessive production of the pigment melanin in discrete areas of the skin after exposure to sunlight.


Also known as ephelides, these are small, brown, flat spots on the skin. They occur mostly in the exposed areas of blonde or redhaired individuals, and darken on exposure to the sun. melanocytes are not increased in the basal layer of the epidermis.


Freckles are small patches of pigmentation that appear on sun-exposed skin. They tend to increase in number with prolonged exposure to sunlight. The tendency to develop freckles is inherited and is most commonly observed in fair-skinned and red-haired individuals. Fortunately, freckles are harmless and do not pose any health risks.


A small pigmented spot on the skin, often found on the face and the backs of the hands, can result from sun exposure in some individuals. However, it can also be present from birth due to genetic factors. This condition is also known as a lentigo.
