Free-floating anxiety

Severe, generalized, persistent anxiety not specifically ascribed to a particular object or event and often a precursor of panic.


Anxiety not referable to any specific situation or cause.


A severe, overall, and general sense of unease and apprehension unrelated to any event, situation, or thought. Symptoms include increased heart rate and breathing, sweating, trembling, fatigue, and weakness accompanied by feelings of impending danger and fear.


Anxiety unrelated to an identifiable condition, situation, or cause.


Free-floating anxiety refers to an overwhelming sense of apprehension or tension that occurs without any apparent cause. This type of anxiety is frequently associated with generalized anxiety disorder.
