Functional endoscopic sinus surgery

The removal of soft tissue in the sinuses using an endoscope.

A surgical treatment that uses endoscopes (lighted viewing devices of varying sizes for operating inside a cavity of the body) and is performed to promote sinus drainage. FESS may also be used to remove nasal polyps or to do a biopsy on a growth to see if cancer is present.

This surgical procedure aims to enhance the drainage of facial sinuses or alleviate blockages within them. It involves the use of an endoscope to enlarge the drainage passages leading to the nose.
