Hallucinosis

A condition in which the patient hallucinates in a state of clear consciousness, as in a substance-induced psychotic disorder.

Dsm-iv-tr classifies hallucinosis on the basis of whether reality testing about the hallucinatory experiences is intact. In patients whose reality testing is impaired, hallucinosis is termed substanceinduced (e.g., alcohol) psychotic disorder, with hallucinations. In patients whose reality testing is intact, hallucinosis is termed substanceinduced intoxication (or withdrawal), with perceptual disturbance.

Abnormal mental state in which the patient has almost continual hallucoinations.

The state of having hallucinations more or less persistently.
