Probably more appropriately called disease insurance since most policies rarely cover “health.” They tend to protect against the cost of illness, disability, etc. There are several modes of payment and forms of insurance: (a) direct payment, (b) copayment, (c) third-party payment, and others. Insurance may take the form of (a) governmental, (b) voluntary, (c) group, (d) individual, and (e) family.
Insurance against loss by disease or accidental bodily injury. Such insurance usually covers some of the medical costs of treating the disease or injury, may cover other losses (such as loss of present or future earnings) associated with them and may be either individual or group insurance.
