The application of tests or other procedures that are easily administered, usually, to a high risk group, to determine the possible existence of a health problem. Procedures include (a) multiphasic screening, (b) case finding, and (c) selective screening. Data gathered during a procedure should be evaluated in terms of validity, reliability, yield, cost, acceptance, and follow-up procedures.
