Hib vaccine

A vaccine used to inoculate against the bacterium Haemophilius influenzae that causes meningitis.


The vaccine that induces antibodies that help prevent infection with Haemophilus influenzae type b.


This vaccine, typically given at two, three, and four months of age, offers immunity against the bacterium Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). Prior to the widespread availability of this vaccine, Hib infections were a frequent source of bacterial meningitis and epiglottitis in children.
