Hydrocodone

Dihydrocodeinone.


Narcotic analgesic, similar to codeine, used in the oral treatment of moderate to severe pain; also used as a cough suppressant; side effects include constipation, nausea, and drowsiness; it may be habit-forming.


A narcotic painkiller. Hydrocodone is chemically similar to codeine, but more powerful and addicting. It is also used as a cough suppressant. Hydrocodone is available as a syrup, as pills, and as a liquid and in combination with acetaminophen. It is manufactured under many brand names, including Hycodan, Hydrocet, Lortab, Norco, Vicodin, and Triaminic.
