While often associated with personal cleanliness, the term can also pertain to public health – the scientific examination of how various environmental factors, like proper sanitation and quality housing, impact health. “Industrial hygiene” and “occupational hygiene” denote the scientific field dedicated to evaluating and managing work environments to prevent work-related diseases and injuries.


The study of well-being and good health. This term originates from “Hygieia,” the ancient Greek goddess of health, who was the offspring of Aesculapius, the god of medicine.
