Hysterosalpingogram

The use of a dye to determine whether the fallopian tubes are obstructed.

An X-ray of a woman’s reproductive organs, a picture enhanced by dyes pumped in through the vagina, often during a search for causes of infertility. Most reliably performed at the early part of a woman’s menstrual cycle, the test is aimed at identifying structural problems that might be interfering with conception, such as fibroid tumors or blockage of the fallopian tubes. On occasion the pumping of the dye into the region even clears partially blocked fallopian tubes.

X ray of the uterus and Fallopian tubes, usually done to determine whether there is a blockage; useful in diagnosing causes of infertility.

An X-ray procedure (also called an HSG) used to visualize the uterus and fallopian tubes. A hysterosalpingogram may be done for either infertility or recurrent miscarriages.
