Impedance

Opposition to the flow of electric current or sound waves.

Resistance of the bones of the inner ear to being set into motion as a result of sound waves.

Resistance met by alternating currents in passing through a conductor; consists of resistance, reactance, inductance, or capacitance. The resistance due to the inductive and condenser characteristics of a circuit is called reactance.

The resistance encountered by a component or circuit against the passage of an alternating or fluctuating current is known as impedance. It is quantified in ohms and represents the hindrance to the flow of current. However, the formula associated with impedance does not hold significant utility in the context of radiological applications.
