In home test

A test done by patients rather than health care professionals to provide information about an individual’s health status. Examples include tests to measure blood sugar (glucose), cholesterol, occult blood in feces, and blood pressure, as well as ovulation predictors and pregnancy tests. The materials and devices needed for in-home tests may be available over the counter (i.e., a prescription from a health care professional is not needed).
