An alpha-adrenoreceptor-blocking drug used in the treatment of high blood pressure. It has several side-effects, including sleepiness, dizziness, depression and failure to ejaculate.
Indoramin is an alpha-blocker medication used to manage high blood pressure, or hypertension. It works by relaxing the muscles in the walls of blood vessels, which allows the vessels to expand and facilitates easier blood flow. In smaller doses, indoramin is also prescribed to alleviate symptoms of an enlarged prostate gland; it works by relaxing the muscle of the prostate, thereby enabling urine to be passed more readily.
Upon initial use, indoramin can trigger a quick drop in blood pressure. Hence, the first dose is typically small and is taken while the patient is lying down. At the beginning of treatment and whenever the dosage is raised, indoramin may also lead to drowsiness.
