Inertia

An object remains at rest or in motion with constant velocity unless acted on by a net external force.

A lack of activity in the body or mind.

State of inactivity or sluggishness (e.g., uterine inertia, in which the contraction of the muscular wall of the uterus is inadequate).

Sluggishness or absence of activity in certain smooth muscles. In uterine inertia the muscular wall of the womb fails to contract adequately during labor, making the process excessively long. This inertia may be present from the start of labor or it may develop because of exhaustion following strong contractions.

In physics, the tendency of a body to remain in its state (at rest or in motion) until acted upon by an outside force.

A property of matter whereby a body at rest will stay at rest and a body in motion will stay in motion until acted upon by some outside force.
