Infarct

An area of living tissue that undergoes necrosis as a result of obstruction of local blood supply.


An area of dead tissue caused by lack of blood supply.


The death of tissue as a result of oxygen deprivation.


An area of tissue which is killed when the blood supply is cut off by the blockage of an artery.


Death of local tissue fed by an obstructed artery or occluded vein.


Area of dead tissue resulting from diminished or stopped blood flow to the tissue area.


An area of tissue in an organ or part that undergoes necrosis following cessation of the blood supply. This may result from occlusion or stenosis of the supplying artery or, more rarely, from occlusion of the vein that drains the tissue.
