Insufficiency

A condition that results when a heart valve cannot close fully, thus allowing blood to return to the chamber from which it just left.

The fact of not being strong or large enough to perform usual functions.

The incompetence of an organ.

Inability of an organ or part, such as the heart or kidney, to carry out its normal function.

When an organ or body part fails to execute its designated role, it is considered insufficient. For instance, in hepatic insufficiency, the liver doesn’t function as it should. Similarly, with venous insufficiency, often seen in the legs, there’s inadequate blood drainage through the veins, potentially causing swelling and ulcers in the legs.
