A blocking of the intestine.
Blockage in the intestine that results m failure of the contents of the intestine to pass through to the lower bowel; it may be due to tumor, adhesions, hernia, narrowing from Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, or other cause. Symptoms include pain, abdominal distension, constipation, and vomiting of fecal matter. Treatment includes taking nothing by mouth, evacuation of the contents of the stomach, intravenous fluids, and possibly, surgical removal of the obstruction.
A condition in which normal passage of intestinal contents is blocked by a tumor, by twisting or shifting of the intestines, or by a hernia or post-surgical adhesions. Symptoms include intense pain, constipation, vomiting, weakness, a gurgling noise in the bowels, and sometimes shock.
