A test requiring an injection into the thickness of the skin, e.g. a Mantoux test or an allergy test.
Procedure used in allergy testing in which a small amount of the suspected allergen is injected within the skin. Wheal formation and reddening of the skin within 30 minutes of the injection indicate a positive result. Also called subcutaneous test.
