Irradiation of food

Irradiation is a process where food is exposed to ionizing radiation to eliminate bacteria, molds, insects, and other harmful agents. This method enhances the shelf life of food and aids in preventing certain foodborne illnesses. However, it doesn’t neutralize bacterial toxins and might deplete some vitamins. Importantly, the procedure doesn’t make the food radioactive, and there’s no proven health risk to humans from consuming irradiated food.
