Isoenzyme

Different forms of an enzyme, usually occurring in different tissues. The isoenzymes of a particular enzyme catalyze the same reaction but they differ in some of their properties.

Enzymes that have the same catalytic activity, but different structures, properties, and/or tissue distribution.

A physically distinct form of a given enzyme. Isoenzymes catalyze the same type of reaction but have slight physical and immunological differences. Isoenzymes of dehydrogenases, oxidases, transaminases, phosphatases, and proteolytic enzymes are known to exist.

One of several forms in which an enzyme may exist. Although isoenzymes have similar catalytic qualities, they may be readily separated from each other.

In the realm of enzymology, there exists a cohort of catalysts that orchestrate identical chemical reactions while showcasing distinctive dissimilarities in their inherent physical attributes.
