Levofloxacin

Fluoroquinolone antibiotic with a broad spectrum of action, which may be used orally or parenterally. It is used in implant dentistry for severe infections, especially in the maxillary sinus.


An antibiotic used to treat pneumonia, bronchitis, urinary tract infections, and minor skin infections. Levofloxacin (Levaquin) is an antibiotic that works by interfering with bacterial DNA, preventing the bacteria from reproducing. Levofloxacin is active against bacteria, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, which is resistant to penicillin.


A fluoroquinolone and anti-infective, administered orally to treat urinary tract and gynecological infections and gonorrhea. It is also used to treat prostatitis; infectious diarrhea; and infections of the respiratory tract, abdomen, skin, bones, and joints.
