Linea alba

A tendon running from the breastbone to the pubic area, to which abdominal muscles are attached.

The line of fibrous tissue stretching down the mid line of the belly from the lower end of the sternum to the pubic bone. The linea alba gives attachment to the muscles of the stomach wall.

The white line of connective tissue in the middle of the abdomen from sternum to pubis.

A fibrous tissue line that runs vertically along the center of the abdominal wall is known as the linea alba. This area serves as the anchor point for the rectus abdominis muscles and stretches from the xiphoid process (the lower end of the breastbone) to the pubic symphysis (the joint connecting the two pubic bones). During pregnancy, the skin covering the linea alba may develop pigmentation.
