Lint

Thick flat cotton wadding, used as part of a surgical dressing.

A material used in surgical dressings, made of scraped linen or a cotton substitute. It is usually fluffy one side and smooth the other.

A thick, loosely woven, absorbent fabric that features a smooth side and a fluffy side. It’s important to apply the smooth side to the skin, as the fluffy side may leave small cotton particles in the wound. White lint is typically used for applying poultices or ointments, while pink lint, colored to signal its boracic impregnation, is employed for the application of hot fomentations.
