A speech condition in which someone replaces ‘s’ sounds with ‘th’.
The defective pronunciation of the sibilant letters s and z.
A substitution of sounds owing to a defect in speech, as of the “th” sounds of “thin” and “then” for “s” and “z.”
A prevalent speech disorder stemming from the tongue extending between the teeth, resulting in the substitution of the “s” sound with a “th” sound. In the majority of instances, there is no underlying physical origin, but occasionally it can be attributed to a cleft palate.
Unless an underlying reason exists, lisping generally fades away by around the age of four. If it continues beyond this point, speech therapy might be necessary.
