Locked knee

A condition in which a piece of the cartilage in the knee slips out of position. The symptom is a sharp pain, and the knee remains permanently bent.

A condition in which the leg cannot be extended. It is usually due to displacement of meniscal cartilage or dislocation of the patella.

A passing incapacity to mobilize the knee joint. A knee that has become locked could be attributed to a torn cartilage or the presence of minute bone or cartilage fragments within the joint, often referred to as loose bodies.
