Long term care facility

A number of types of facilities designed for people who require custodial care for a longer period than is possible in a hospital. Long-term care is generally provided to people who have a chronic, progressive illness or disability. Many long-term care residents are older adults. The term nursing home is commonly used to describe these facilities but may be misleading. Some residents do not need nursing care, or their nursing care needs are minimal, while others may need extensive care. The expression long-term care encompasses all levels of care.

A facility which provides lodging and health care services to patients with chronic health care needs.

An institution such as a nursing home that is capable of providing continuous care, for older or chronically ill persons.
