Luxated tooth

A dislocated tooth that is usually caused by a direct blow to the mouth. When a permanent tooth has been dislocated, a dentist should be contacted immediately. The tooth may be reimplanted if it has been properly preserved. Storing the tooth in milk or saline, placing it under the tongue, or in the mouth between the gums and the inner side of the cheek, may help to keep it sound enough to be implanted back into the socket. The tooth should not be scrubbed clean so as not to disturb any tissue that is still on it. If a child has lost a permanent tooth and is unconscious, the tooth may be stored in a parent’s mouth until the dentist can be seen.
