Lymphopenia

Abnormally low number of lymphocytes in the blood.


A decrease in the number of lymphocytes in the blood, which may occur in a wide variety of diseases.


A state characterized by a decrease in the quantity of lymphocytes below the expected levels.


A reduction in the count of lymphocytes, a specific type of white blood cell responsible for initiating the immune response, achieved through direct confrontation of abnormal cells or invading pathogens, as well as through the production of antibodies that lead to their elimination. This state can arise when the bone marrow’s production of blood cells diminishes, such as in cases of aplastic anemia, or due to treatments involving radiotherapy or anticancer drugs.


A reduction in the quantity of lymphocytes in the bloodstream. It is also referred to as lymphocytopenia.
