The main sensory axon tract carrying pain and temperature information in the spinal cord. Major tract of the spinal cord that carries information related to pain and temperature to the thalamus.

  • Motor tract

A descending pathway of axons that conveys motor impulses from the brain to the lower portions of the spinal cord.

  • Dorsolateral tract

A spinal cord tract superficial to the tip of the dorsal horn. It is made up of short pain and temperature fibers that are processes of neurons having their cell bodies in the dorsal root ganglion.

  • Ascending tract

Axons that carry impulses up the spinal cord or from the spinal cord to the brain.
