  • Double stethoscope

    A stethoscope with two earpieces and tubes.  

  • Compound stethoscope

    A stethoscope in which more than one set is attached to the same fork and chest piece.

    A stethoscope designed for use with both ears. This is the commonly used stethoscope design. It has a bell or cup-shaped end made of metal or hard rubber. Two rubber tubes carry the sound from this end to the doctor’s ears.

  • Steroid diabetes

    Hyperglycemia that results from the use of exogenously administered corticosteroids, such as prednisone, methylprednisolone, dexamethasone, or other therapeutic agents.

    An organic compound containing in its chemical nucleus the perhydrocyclopentanophenanthrene ring.  

  • Sternothyroid

    The muscle extending beneath the sternohyoid that depresses the thyroid cartilage. Related to the breastbone and the thyroid cartilage.  

  • Sternomastoid region

    The wide area on the lateral region of the neck covered by sternocleidomastoid muscle.
