The unit of measurement of solid angles. It encloses an area on the surface of a sphere equal to the square of the radius of the sphere.

Step-down unit
A unit to which stable patients are sent either after being cared for in intensive care units (ICUs) or instead of receiving care in ICUs.

Rate-determining step
The chemical reaction in a series of sequential reactions that takes the longest to occur.

Urologic stent
A biologically compatible tube inserted into the ureter or urethra to relieve or prevent urinary tract obstruction. Stents are commonly placed in the urinary tract after endoureterotomy and endopyelotomy.
