Nummular sputum
Sputum laden with round, coin-shaped solids.

Currant jelly sputum
Thick sputum mixed with clotted blood, typically seen in patients with pneumonia caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae.

Scleral spur
Scleral fibers bordered anteriorly by the canal of Schlemm and the trabecular meshwork and posteriorly by the ciliary muscle fibers.

Femoral spur
A spur sometimes present on the medial and underside of the neck of the femur.

Spur cell
An erythrocyte with spikes caused by a membrane deformity. Spur cells are often seen in persons with alcoholic cirrhosis and congenital abetalipoproteinemia.

Calcaneal spur
An exostosis of the heel, often painful and resulting in disability.

Bone spur
The common term for an exostosis. Referred to as an osteophyte, this anatomical feature manifests as an outgrowth or ridge that develops on a bone.

Uncombable hair syndrome.

Spumavirus
A genus of retroviruses occasionally transmitted to humans after exposure to the blood or body fluids of infected animals (e.g., apes, cats, or cattle).

Collagenous sprue
Infiltration of the small intestine by collagen fibers. Clinically, the disease is similar to severe celiac sprue. It is resistant to treatment with a gluten-free diet and immunosuppressive drugs.
