Dural venous sinus

One of the large veins between the two layers of the cranial dura mater.

A vein in the transverse groove between the left cardiac atrium and ventricle.

A sinus in the midline of the gluteal cleft just over the coccyx.

Circular sinus
A venous sinus around the pituitary gland, communicating on each side with the cavernous sinus.

Sinus cavernosus
A large sinus from the sphenoidal fissure to the apex of the petrous portion of the temporal bone.

Aortic sinus
The area in the wall of the aortic arch that contains pressoreceptors innervated by the vagus nerves. These receptors detect changes in blood pressure and bring about reflex changes in heart rate and arterial diameter.
