  • Seroepidemiology

    A study of the epidemiological characteristics of a disease by reviewing blood samples for markers of the disease.  

  • Seroenteritis

    An inflammation of the serous covering of the intestine. Inflammation of the serous membrane lining the intestine.  

  • Serodiagnosis

    Diagnosis of disease based on tests of serum, especially immunological tests.  

  • Serodermatosis

    Skin disease with serous effusion into tissues of the epidermis. A skin condition distinguished by the accumulation of serous fluid within the skin.  

  • Seroculture

    A bacterial culture on blood serum. The cultivation of bacteria on a blood serum medium.  

  • Serocolitis

    Inflammation of the serous layer of the colon. Inflammation of the serous membrane covering the colon.  

  • Serine protease inhibitor

    Any of the compounds that inhibit platelet function and coagulation. SERPINs have been used to reduce deposition of microemboli in cases of disseminated intravascular coagulation associated with sepsis.  

  • Upper Gl series

    Radiographical and fluoroscopic examinations of the stomach and duodenum after the ingestion of a contrast medium, such as barium sulfate or an iodinized glucose solution.  

  • Thrombocytic series

    The immature blood cells in the bone marrow that develop into megakaryocytes and ultimately form platelets.  

  • Monocytic series

    The immature blood cells that grow in the bone marrow and other blood-forming organs into mature monocytes and macrophages.
