  • Decline

    A deterioration of physical health or a phase of reduced severity in a disease. The term “going into a decline” was once commonly used to describe someone succumbing to pulmonary tuberculosis.  

  • Dead hand

    A condition characterized by circulatory problems in the fingers, commonly seen in workers using vibrating tools like rotary cutters and road drills, but also found in various other diseases.  

  • Dakin’s solution

    A liquid mixture for cleaning wounds, made up of bicarbonate of soda, chlorinated lime, and water, with the final addition of boric acid. A solution containing bleaching powder, specifically sodium hypochlorite.  

  • Dacryocele

    A tear sac bulging out, also known as a dacryocystocele.  

  • Cystorectostomy

    Connecting the urinary bladder to the rectum and creating a passage for urine to flow into the rectum.  

  • Cystopexia

    A surgical procedure that secures the urinary bladder to the abdominal wall.  

  • Cystomerocele

    A hernia of the urinary bladder protruding through the femoral ring into the groin.  

  • Cystoenterocele

    A rupture or hernia that encompasses parts of both the bladder and the intestine.  

  • Cyanopia

    Vision in which all objects take on a blue hue.  

  • Cuspidate cuspid

    Cuspid teeth, also known as canine teeth, are the four teeth characterized by their pointed, conical crowns.
